yesterday was hot, but today feels worse. and it's only april!!!!! stayed up late watching classic movies and finished up the back of the kyoto redux. here's the front and back all ready to be seamed. they look all wonky cuz i just didn't take the time to lay them out nicely. hope to have a shot of me modeling it soon!!!!!
my great weekend started off with a little KIP on friday night. i met some of my runners for a pre-race pasta dinner out in venice. i ended up getting to the westside two hours early because i was already out that way to pick up my race number and it made no sense to go back home. with two hours to kill, i brought my kyoto redux to work on and sat on the channel in the marina just knitting and watching the sailboats come and go. you gotta love daylight savings..........
saturday was spent working on a photo shoot. i usually don't like to work on shoots the day before a race, but this was only a 10k, so it wasn't going to make or break me. i was helping a friend who was shooting another friend's new sheer cotton line for her t-shirt company. we just had one model and shot at a house and then on a boat. very mellow like just a bunch of girls hanging out, and for once the model was sweet and down to earth. our friend brought two of everything in every color for the model to wear. she wasn't sure how things would fit, so she brought smalls and mediums. let's just say that this model could've used an extra small. and then she said we'd all get to take some samples home. i said to myself "who could i give these clothes to, cuz i'm neither a medium nor a small," but i took them home and was shocked that i actually fit into these cute chocolate brown yoga pants that feel like butter!!!!! they say that companies are changing their sizes to fool women into believing that they're smaller than they really are. i say, fool away!!!! can't wait to wear them to yoga tomorrow!!!! so i guess weight watchers is really starting to pay off. 11.4 pounds so far. the last 7 will be the hardest i'm sure.........
and today i felt another payoff from the weight loss. i pr'd at my 10k!!!!! one hour, 3 minutes and 36 seconds!!!!! woo hooooo!!!! i could've gone faster but it was reeeeeeally hot. there were bands all along the course including general public, flock of seaguls, tone loc, dramarama, and a concert at the fnish line by devo!!!! i'm truly amazed at how much faster i'm running now. we'll really see the difference at the marathon in june.......
i'm definitely sore tonight, so i'm just gonna ice my knees and knit away on this top. here's where i'm at so far. it's just a boring black blob, but oh well......
here's where i'm at on the kyoto redux sweater, also known as the "70's glam top." i've incorporated the sleeves into the entire front piece for a sort of baggy blousy look. i'll add a ribbed trim to them once it's all seamed up. now onto the back which i think i'll do in all black.
i also need to swatch for the tank along i'm doing with my virtual knittin' gals. most of them are well on their way or done, but it looks like there's a few people on vacation or, in my case, just draggin' their ass, who will be a second start group. i'm always in awe of the people who are in a gazillion knit alongs and knit sooo fast. i don't know how they do it!!!!
since i have absolutely no knitting news to report, i can at least share this awesome photo. earlier this week i worked on a photo shoot with some of the original members of the 80's classic, revenge of the nerds . booger was my favorite in the movie, followed by lamar and his purple leg warmers (which he wore on the shoot!!!!). i swear lamar hasn't aged a bit. it was funny, though. we all referred to them by their nerd names all day instead of their actual names. could you imagine being called booger for life???? they were all great guys.
so in knitting news, i'm still on pause with everything. the next few months will probably leave me with little time to knit as i really need to be dedicating my time to working on the documentary, but don't fret, i'll check in as often as i can. i'm supposed to be doing a knit-along with my virtual kntting crew, but i haven't even picked a pattern or swatched anything. just writing about it makes me want to get the needles out!!!!!
from the last post, you'll know that i've not been kntting at all. all my time has been spent tooling around with the new puter. the hardest thing to get used to is the keboard. so different from the pc i've been using for the last year. otherwise, i'm loving it and really digging osx which i fought for so long. i'm not wireless yet, but loving that i'm typing this from the couch. i promise, i'll get back to knitting content soon.
i ran 17 miles saturday. my it band from my butt to the side of my knee is pretty aggravated, but i'm starting to notice a difference in my pace from the weight loss (8.4 pounds so far) and it's encouraging. but i figured that a girl can't be on two diets at once, and broke down and bought some yarn on ebay, a reward if you will for 5 weeks of eating right and excercising. i'm so weak.......
i'd like to think that i have a respectable command of the english language, but i hardly knew i was a god!!! i think it's more an example of my supreme standardized test taking skills than my grammatical prowess. i'm sure i bug a lot of those grammar avengers out there with my conscious omission of capital letters. spellcheck doesn't like it too much either, but i'm a point and pecker, and the shift key just trips me up. to tell you the truth, i've always been a math person. does that make me a math ninja????? oh yes, i think it does......
as you can see, i have no knitting news to report. i'm kinda stuck on the neckline of my kyoto redux top, and i'm totally distracted by what arrived by fed ex today.........
new 17 inch powerbook, applecare protection plan, zip drive, wacom tablet, final cut express software, free espon printer, and a free carrying case. people, you have to understand what a HUGE DEAL this is!!!! the last computer i bought was back in '97. i thought i was the shit with a 1.2 gig hard drive (and i was). now, i can't even boot that sucker up to check my email. i was working on the g4 at work for a year and a half, but that ended with the layoff last may. since then i've been using my mom's pc with no photoshop, nothin', and a 120 gig hard drive with my documentary project sitting on it and nothing to connect it to. i am one happy (and now very poor) camper!!!! and no disrespect to pc users, but a mac is a mac is a mac and now i gotta get all acquainted with osx which i fought for as long as i could.......
oooooh, i'm gonna be up all night like a kid on christmas day just tooling around with this thing. i mainly got it to use for editing my documentary, but it'll be getting plenty of use as i wirlessly surf blogs and update my own right from my very own couch. wooooo hoooooo!!!!!!! it really isn't all that exciting once you find out that my couch is just inches from the desktop computer. maybe this calls for a hollyweird knits revamp???? that banner screams "south park" to me. i should trick it out more. oooooooh the possibilities.......

i wanna make THIS!!!!! i've got the perfect lucky little girl in mind for this one.
i wanna make THIS!!!!! the best part is that i think i've already got yarn for this from another failed project that i need to frog, but i'll be adding some length to it.......
and a bunch of THESE!!!!! for all my girlfriends when we go camping memorial weekend!!!!!
but i can't make any of those until i finish this........
here's where i'm at on the kyoto redux. it's my own pattern, so we'll see how it comes out, but so far i'm really liking it. this is the front. i'm using the three colors of brown sheep cotton fleece from kyoto plus some gold stuff i had lying around. i'm doing the striping randomly by drawing numbers out of a bowl. i think i'll do the back in all black so that it's not too busy. WOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!

i've thought about this one before. i'd call the restaurant "whateva's cleva" and change the menu every day with all my favorites including, mexican, indian, soul food, veggie friendly, etc.
...owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell?
yarn, duh!!!!!
...wrote a book, what genre would it be?

...recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it?
