HOUSTON, WE HAVE A KNITTED OBJECT......

honestly, i haven't been in much of a mood to knit. it's partly due to just focusing on recovering from the accident, and partly due to my general drop in knitting during the summer months. i made this for my friend whose birthday is on the 4th. seems weird to be giving someone a scarf in july, but she's the only girlfriend of mine who i haven't knitted for, and she's always admiring what imake for everyone else.

i made this with some yarn that i bought while i was in alaska. it's made with berroco duo, a wool/nylon self striping yarn. these are perfect colors for her. i pretty much did garter stitch through the solid burgundy parts and then did a few rows of that loopy thingy where you warap each stitch three times instead of one which creates these longer ladders. hope she likes it.

in other news, i forgot to mentionn that when i landed at the anchorage airport on my trip, i found out that I GOT INTO THE NEW YORK MARATHON!!!!! so from now to november 7th, all i'm focusing on is getting better for the race. no triathlon a month for me this summer which i'm slightly dissappointed about, but the payoff will be running in new york again which just thrills me. so in addition to knitting talk, i'm warning you all now that i'll be talking about my therapy and training a lot. i'm sure that'll piss off the knitting purist/snobs, but i really don't give a damn.

and just a shout out from hollywood. we lost another good one yesterday...

If you...

  1. ...owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve? i've thought about this one before. i'd call the restaurant "whateva's cleva" and change the menu every day with all my favorites including, mexican, indian, soul food, veggie friendly, etc.
  2. ...owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell? yarn, duh!!!!!
  3. ...wrote a book, what genre would it be? biographies are my favorite, but i can't imagine that my own would be a top seller. probably a crime story.
  4. ...ran a school, what would you teach? tolerance
  5. ...recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it? oh, again, that's a difficult one. i'm a musical schizophrenic. some punk, some funk, some metal, some rap, and at least one sappy love song
