CAR CRASHED BY FUNK.....

when grace jones sang "pull up to the bumper" i don't think she meant "and then right on thru the back of my ride"

went to get the rest of my belongings outta my car today. there are a ton of cds lodged under the back seat but it's totally bent in a v shape, so i couldn't get to them. when they pulled me out of the car after the accident, i came out of the driver's door (the only door that will open) so i never saw this side of the car. forget the cds, i'm lucky to be alive. crazy.....

becki over at supergirl knits asked if this is going to affect my marathon scheduled for next month. yesterday, i was optimistic that i could come back in time, but now it looks like i'll be going to alaska as a spectator and the first triathlon of the summer is out too. i'm pretty disappointed, but trying to stay positive. again, i am alive and will eventually run another marathon (or two or three).

thanks to everyone who sent well wishes. sorry to be bombarding you all with car crash content. i'll get back to knitting soon.......

JOLLY GREEN GIANT

remember that fence i painted green for my mom??? yeah, well this is what it looks like when you still have a full gallon of that paint in the back of your car and a mack truck comes barreling down the freeway at 50mph and plows right into the back of you.

the peramedics who took me to the hospital were soooooo cute and flirty!!!!! the car is totalled. as for me, nothing's broken, just a chest contusion and a sprained neck and a gallon of green fence paint in my hair and on my favorite pair of pants. i was really lucky though. if i was driving a smaller car, i would've been toast. so no car and at least a week in bed means lots of knitting!!!!!! but probably no pics for a while. sorry........

p.s. i heart vicadin........

p.p.s. go lakers!!!!!!!

I LOVE MY MOM THIS MUCH

i'm still recovering from the weekend. i didn't knit at all, didn't run either. instead, i sent my mom away for the weekend while i landscaped and planted the front of her house for mother's day. let's just say i'm more sore than if i had run a marathon!!!! in two days i:

• painted a fence
• installed a mailbox (i still need to paint the post)
• built two huge planter boxes with cinder blocks and river rock
• haulled three car loads of dirt from a house under construction around the corner
• tilled the dirt with mulch and pulled up old tree roots
• planted succulents, cacti, and sage
• installed solar lights

all the neighbors came out to watch at different points. one even wanted to hire me to do their yard. let's just say i only do this for love. my mom cried when she got home sunday which makes all the pain that still lingers in my body well worth it. i'm sure it's nothing close to what she went through when she had me right??? i wish i had taken before pictures but here's some shots i took today:

A SAD FRIDAY :(

it's so sad. "friday five" is no more. first "this or that tuesday" was gone and now the "friday five." i quite liked it, and will leave my last entry up until i find something similar to replace it with. i think there's a site that lists all "the lists." gotta go check it out.

nothing to report in knitting news. still haven't taken a pic of the kyoto redux. maybe i'll get to it this weekend. already started a new tank. i'm using more recycled yarn which feels good and i'm making up the pattern. we'll see.

happy mother's day to all the moms out there!!!!!

CHECKIN' IN

sorry i haven't posted in a bit. things have been hectic. but i was able to sit down last night and finally finish up the kyoto redux while watching the sopranos. it looks pretty good. not quite what i had planned with the shaping, but i'll still be happy to add it to the wardrobe. definitely a sucessful redux. i'll post a pic as soon as i can. now onto a summery tank with the other frogged yarn. i'm all about tanks since it was 96 freakin' degrees this weekend!!!!!

i ran 20 miles in this insane heat on saturday. i still don't know how i did it. please pray that the weather in anchorage wil be mellow. it's got to be right???

If you...

  1. ...owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve? i've thought about this one before. i'd call the restaurant "whateva's cleva" and change the menu every day with all my favorites including, mexican, indian, soul food, veggie friendly, etc.
  2. ...owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell? yarn, duh!!!!!
  3. ...wrote a book, what genre would it be? biographies are my favorite, but i can't imagine that my own would be a top seller. probably a crime story.
  4. ...ran a school, what would you teach? tolerance
  5. ...recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it? oh, again, that's a difficult one. i'm a musical schizophrenic. some punk, some funk, some metal, some rap, and at least one sappy love song

The WeatherPixie
